Ingredients

  • 1 cup dill pickle chips, patted dry Or any sized flavored pickles you enjoy.

Flour Batter

  • ¾ cup oat flour Or flour of choice
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 Tablespoons Nutritional Yeast
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder

Breading

  • 1 cup bread crumbs or gluten-free bread crumbs
  • 1 Tablespoon Italian seasoning

Vegan Ranch Dressing

Instructions

  • Place pickles on paper towels and pat dry
  • In a blender, combine all the flour batter ingredients.
  • Blend until smooth.
  • Pour contents into a wide mouthed bowl.
  • Place bread crumbs and Italian seasoning in a second bowl and stir to combine.

Air Fryer

  • Prepare the air fryer basket or pan with parchment paper (optional)
  • Dip each pickle in the flour mixture, then in the breading mixture, and place in a single layer in the air fryer basket/pan.
  • Do not overlap pickles.
  • Cook for 10 minutes until crispy.
  • If bathc cooking, prepare a baking sheet and preheat an oven to 325 degreee to keep the cooked pickles hot while batch cooking.

Baking

  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
  • Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  • Follow the same directions dipping the pickles into the flour mixture then in the bread mix.
  • Cook for 20 minutes until crispy.

Notes

  • Dry pickles before dipping in the flour mixture.
  • I suggest blending the flour mixture rather than whisking, so all the flour clumps are smoothly blended.
  • Any type of pickle flavor or shape works for air frying or baking, but cooking times vary depending on the size and shape of the pickles.
  • If you don't like vegan ranch, try vegan southwest dressing, mustard dipping sauce, ranchero sauce, or lemon basil dressing.
  • Leftover fried pickles get soggy when stored in the refrigerator, but they air fry or bake well when recooked.
