MEZCLA MEXICAN CHIPOTLE HOT CHOCOLATE PROTEIN BAR
Although I'm not much a protein bar lover, I recently tried Mezcla protein bars. When I started eating plant-based, like many other people, I worried about getting enough protein. Of course, I quickly learned we don't need nearly as much protein as we believe. And, plant-based foods supply enough protein without any concern for a lack of protein.
But, I've also tried a variety of protein bars in my plant-based journey. To be honest, I never liked protein bars because of the synthetic after taste of a typical protein bar. And, the amount of sugar in a typical protein bar is off the charts. Most protein bars, in my experience, have a gritty chalky texture.
Then, I tasted the Mezcla Protein Bars, and I quickly changed my opinion. I'm not a "sweets" person, but these bars are simply to die for. In fact, I would classify them as more savory than sweet without the artificial taste.
MEZCLA BARS ARE ALL ABOUT FLAVOR PAIRING AND TEXTURE
By far my favorite Mezcla protein bar is the Mexican Chipolte Hot Chocolate Protein bar. Imagine, if you will, pairing dark chocolate with mild chili pepper and quinoa crunch. Once I learned the chipotle peppers actually come from Mexico, I realized this wasn't just a typical protein bar. The texture, although crunchy, melts in your mouth with every bite.
MEZCLA PERUVIAN COCOA PEANUT BUTTER PROTEIN BAR
The Mezcla Peruvian Cocoa Peanut Butter Protein bar, on the other hand, is a combination of cocoa, peanut butter, amaranth, and quinoa. Amaranth, an ancient grain in the Inca, Maya, and Aztec civilizations are high in fiber as well as protein. With an earthy, nutty flavor, this particular bar explodes with flavor.
Last, but certainly, not least is the Mezcla Japanese Matcha Vanilla Protein Bar. In addition to the health benefits of matcha, Mezcla actually sources its matcha directly from Japan. The unique flavor pairing of matcha and vanilla, however, is a perfect match. Matcha, which tastes grassy or earthy, with a slightly sweet aftertaste. Paired with vanilla, which has a sweet perfumed aroma, this protein bar tastes smooth and dreamy.

WHERE DO I BUY MEZCLA PROTEIN BARS?
Currently, Mezcla bars are available at Walmart in most areas in the US. Although the bars aren't available outside the US, I assume they won't belong.
If you can't find these yummy bars at Walmart, you can order them directly from the Mezcla website. In fact, they are currently running a FREE 3 bar trial, so you can try all three flavors. You need to pay only shipping and handling, but it's worth it. You will be hooked!
THE BOTTOM LINE...WOULD I EAT MEZCLA BARS AGAIN?
In the end, I highly recommend Mezcla protein bars! Even if you're not a protein bar fan, these protein bars are a great vegan dessert option for those who want a little sweet treat. With only 170 calories, made with high-quality ingredients, and 10 grams of plant protein, I really liked them all!
